Stars Place Spezza on IR, Recall Faksa

The Dallas Stars have placed veteran pivot Jason Spezza on injured reserve, as reported by ESPN.  Spezza went headfirst into the boards absorbing a hit from the Colorado Avalanche's Francois Beauchemin.  There is no timetable for Spezza's return to the ice.  Spezza has been a key cog in the Colorado offensive machine this season, putting up 40 points (18 goals, 22 assist) in 52 games.

With Spezza on the shelf, the Stars have recalled center Radek Faksa from their AHL affiliate Texas Stars. Faksa has been producing for Texas, notching 26 points (15 points, 11 assists) in 28 games this season.  He has previously been with Dallas this season as well, getting into 18 games and putting up 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist).  Faksa is currently under contract to the Stars for three years (through 2016-17) at a total value of $4.2 million, after which he will become an RFA.
