Recalls: Panthers, Lightning, Blackhawks, Bruins

The Florida Panthers have called up forward John McFarland, who will make his NHL debut reports the Florida Sun-Sentinel.  He will become the third Panthers rookie to make their debut in the league this season, joining Logan Shaw and Connor Brickley.  The 23 year-old goal scoring forward has put up 22 points (14 goals, 8 assists) in 43 contests for the Portland Pirates of the AHL this season.  In additional NHL call ups:

  • Kristers Gudlevskis has been called up to the Tampa Bay Lightning according to Syracuse.com. The 23 year-old goaltender hailing from Latvia will be making his second stint with the Lightning, the previous time coming in 2013-14.  In 25 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season, Gudlevskis has a 2.99 GAA and .901 save percentage.  In a corresponding move, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was sent to Syracuse.
  • The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled Viktor Svedberg for the third time this season, reports Chris Hine at the Chicago Tribune.  Svedberg has played in 16 games with the Blackhawks this season, picking up three points (1 goal, 2 assists).
  • The Boston Bruins recalled Joonas Kemppainen as reported on the WEEI blog.  The Finnish forward has played primarily at the NHL level this season, with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 36 games.  It's thought that the recall is related to the availability of Patrice Bergeron for tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild.  Bergeron was injured in a fight during Thursday's game.
