NHL Moves: Subban, Gustavsson, Ness

The Boston Bruins have sent goaltender Malcolm Subban to their AHL affiliate in Providence, with Jonas Gustavsson now cleared to return, as reported by NESN.  Gustavsson had been sidelined due to an elevated heart rate in his last on-ice performance, for which he wound up in the hospital overnight.  He was cleared by the Bruins' medical team for full on-ice participation. In 15 games for Boston this season, Gustavsson has a 9-3-1 record.  It's expected that Gustavsson will be the back up for Tuukka Rask as the Bruins face the Buffalo Sabres tonight. In additional NHL transaction news:

  • Defenseman Aaron Ness has been recalled by the Washington Capitals as reported by the Washington Post. Fellow defenseman Taylor Chorney had been experiencing what were termed flu-like symptoms, necessitating the call up of Ness.  In 8 games with Washington previously this season, Ness has two assists.  Chorney tried to play in the Capitals previous game on Tuesday evening, but after receiving an IV he was able to struggle through just under 5 minutes of ice time before being ruled out for the third period.
