More on the Jakub Kindl Trade to the Florida Panthers

Jakub Kindl was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2017 as reported at mlive.com.

The Red Wings will also retain 15% of Kindl's salary, or $360,000.  (Kindl's salary for the full season is $2.4 million according to generalfanager.com).   The move clears a bit of room under the cap for Detroit to make further moves, as they have just under $2 million in salary remaining to be doled out.  And for next season, Detroit also clears out $2 million in salary to make additional moves.

The 29 year-old defenseman has played in 25 games for Detroit this season, notching 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) and has cleared waivers twice.

This trade obviously fuels further speculation about trades that Detroit might be looking to make before Monday's 3 p.m. trade deadline.
