Injured Reserve: Flyers, Blackhawks

Michael Del Zotto will be out long-term with an injury, according to the Philadelphia Flyers' GM Ron Hextall stated, as reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer.  Del Zotto was injured during Saturday's loss to the New Jersey Devils, and has what is being described as an "upper-body injury".  Del Zotto has 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) in 52 games for the Flyers this season.  In response to the injury, Philadelphia has recalled defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Marian Hossa on injured reserve with a leg injury as reported by ESPN.  Coach Joel Quenneville was quoted as saying "we don't think it's serious".  Placing Hossa on IR requires him to miss at least seven days however.  Hossa has 10 goals and 18 assists for the Blackhawks this season.  In response to the injury, Chicago has called up Vince Hinostroza from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.  Hinostroza has 10 goals and 17 assists at the AHL level this season.
