Flames Trade For Shinkaruk, Vancouver Gets Granlund

The Calgary Flames have acquired Hunter Shinkaruk from the Vancouver Canucks in a trade for Markus Granlund, according to a TSN tweet.

The 21 year-old Shinkaruk, who was taken in the first round of the 2013 NHL draft by Vancouver, has 39 points in 45 games for the Utica Comets of the AHL this season. He saw one game of action with Vancouver this season as well. Shinkaruk is from Calgary and noted that it will be cool to play in his hometown.

Granlund, a 22 year-old Finnish forward, has split his time between Calgary and the Stockton Heat of the AHL this season. In 31 games at the NHL level this season, Granlund has seven points.
