Calgary Flames Recall Nakladal

The Calgary Flames have recalled right-shooting defenseman Jakub Nakladal from their AHL affiliate Stockton Heat, as reported by CBS Sports.  The native of the Czech Republic has played in 35 games at the AHL level this season, notching 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists).  With Dennis Wideman suspended for 20 games, Nakladal will help fill the void on the blue line.  (Wideman's suspension comes after a hit to linesman Don Henderson that sent him sprawling to the ice.  Wideman was hit and looked a bit rocky just prior to trying to leave the ice and hitting the linesman).  In additional Calgary Flames news and notes:

  • The team's website reports that another personnel decision will need to be made with 23 year-old left wing Micheal Ferland ready to come back from an injury. It's reported that Ferland is likely to be activated prior to the team's game tonight.  In 37 games with the Flames this season, the Manitoba native has eight points (2 goals, 6 assists).
  • According to the Flames' site, defenseman Mark Giordano needs only one assist to reach the milestone of 200.  The Toronto native has notched 199 assists in 558 career regular season games, all with Calgary.  The veteran blueliner could easily double that number of assists with Calgary, if he stays through his contract term which concludes in 2021-22.
