Andrew Ladd Traded to Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired Andrew Ladd in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets according to a tweet by Darren Dreger.  The Jets will reportedly get Marko Dano, a first round draft pick in 2016 and another conditional draft pick, in return for Andrew Ladd, Jay Harrison and Matt Fraser.  Winnipeg will also retain 36% of Ladd's salary.

The conditional draft pick will come in 2018 according to the Blackhawks website.

With the Blackhawks near the top of the heap when it comes to reaching the cap, the retention of salary is a big piece to this trade.

Jay Harrison carries a $1.5 million cap hit and is set to become a UFA after this season.

Matt Fraser is set to become a RFA after this season and his cap hit is $650K for 2015-16.

Marko Dano has one more year on his contract after this season when he will become an RFA.  He carries an annual cap hit of $925K.

And I think you can say that the Chicago fans are happy to have Ladd back on their team.  (He last played for Chicago in 2009-10).
