Oilers Next Head Coach?

There has been much speculation that the next Edmonton Oilers head coach will be either Mike Babcock or Todd McLellan. It seems that the Oilers are in particular pursuing former San Jose Sharks head coach McLellan, according to a recent report on SportsNet. McLellan has been coaching Team Canada during the recent World Championships, and getting a good look at Oilers' players Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle.

Mike Babcock has been given permission by the Detroit Red Wings to speak with other NHL teams, and it would not be surprising if the Oilers wanted to chat with him about their head coach position. The question remains however, as several teams are looking to secure a head coach, if the Oilers would want to lock into an expedient agreement with McLellan, before holding full discussions with Babcock.
