Nashville Notes: Mazanec, Fisher

The Nashville Predators announced on their website that the team has signed 23 year-old netminder Marek Mazanec to a one-year, two way contract. Mazanec would fill an insurance goaltender role for the Predators playing behind one of the best in the league in Pekka Rinne.

Mazanec filled in admirably for Rinne during the 2013-14 season, getting into 25 games for Nashville and putting up a .902 save percentage and 2.80 GAA.

In other Nashville news, GM David Poile has made it clear that re-signing forward Mike Fisher will be a priority for the team, as reported in the Tennessean. According to the report, Poile makes it clear that he wants Fisher back on the Nashville Predators next season:
Mike Fisher, we would love to have him back," Poile said. "He represents so much to our team, both on and off the ice. ... He's a real leader. I truly feel that the best place for Mike is here in Nashville. As long as I'm the manager, he can play as long as he wants."

Fisher, a 34 year-old veteran who has spent the past five seasons with Nashville, continues to produce, most recently putting 39 points up in 59 regular season games.
