Goloubef Signs Two-Year Extension with Columbus

Defenseman Cody Goloubef has signed a two-year extension to remain with the Columbus Blue Jackets through the 2016-17 season, as reported by Yahoo Sports.  The 25 year-old blueliner was taken 37th overall in the 2008 NHL entry draft by Columbus.  Goloubef spent 36 games with Columbus last season, garnering nine points (all assists).  According to the Columbus Dispatch, the deal is one-way paying Goloubef $700,000 in 2015-16 and $800,000 in 2016-17.  Goloubef made it clear, as quoted in the Dispatch, that he wanted to remain with Columbus.
“I’ve grown with these guys and with this organization,” Goloubef said. “This is where I wanted to be. (Unrestricted free agency) wasn’t something I really wanted to do. I like what we’ve got going on here, and it’s going to be a winning team.”
