Roy Traded to Oilers from Predators

As reported on the Edmonton Oilers' official website, the team has traded for centerman Derek Roy from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Mark Arcobello.

Roy, a 31-year-old pivot who is on a one-year deal valued at $1 million, had played in 26 games with the Predators this season, notching 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists). He spent 2013-14 with the St. Louis Blues, putting up a respectable 37 points (9 goals, 28 assists) in 75 games. He is viewed as top four centerman who will bolster the Oilers' forwards with a veteran presence.

Arcobello, a right-handed forward who played his college hockey at Yale University, spent 36 games with Edmonton this season, notching 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists). He spent some time last season with the Oilers' AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City, but the priority of the campaign with Edmonton where he put up 18 points in 41 games. The 26 year-old hailing from Connecticut is also on a one-year deal, at $600K for 2014-15.
