Halak to IR, Poulin Recalled

The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Jaroslav Halak on injured reserve, and have recalled netminder Kevin Poulin, as reported on NHL.com.   Halak's placement on IR is retroactive to December 20.  The injury to Halak has been reported as a "lower-body" injury.  The veteran goaltender has been extremely solid in net for the Isles this season, putting up an impressive .919 save percentage and 2.24 goals-against-average.  Halak's performance this season has helped New York remain one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference during the first part of the 2013-14 season.

Poulin has also been solid in net for the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season.  His .928 save percentage and 2.41 goals-against-average at the AHL level afford the Islanders the ability to rely on Poulin as a solid backup if and when required.
