Philadelphia Flyers Sign Goaltender Steve Mason to Extension

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed goaltender Steve Mason to a three year extension worth a reported $12.3 million in total, according to ESPN.  Mason has been strong as a number one netminder for Philly this season, notching a .915 save percentage and 2.56 GAA with 19 wins in 37 games.  Mason was acquired by the Flyers in a trade at the deadline in 2013, and since joining the team has played 44 regular season games in net, winning 23 of them and going to OT five times.  The 25 year-old backstop was working on a one-year deal previously for this season, at an AAV and cap hit of $1.5 million after which he would have become an RFA.
