Ottawa Looking to Land Defenseman Via Trade

The Ottawa Senators are interested in landing a top four defenseman. This has General Manager Brian Murray keeping tabs on the trade market per Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.

Sitting at number 25 among all NHL teams ranking for goals-against, the Senators could use to bolster their blueline immediately.  But at what cost?  If they think they could be a contender for the Stanley Cup (and why wouldn't they?) this season, then a defenseman via trade will most likely come at a cost of draft picks, prospects or both.

And the player won't come from a team with a winning record.  There just seems to be a dearth of needed shutdown defensemen across the league that would not afford a team to give one up, if they are expecting to compete for the Cup this season.
