2014 NHL Free Agents - Jonas Hiller

Jonas Hiller, a stalwart in goal for the Anaheim Ducks over the past few seasons, will become an unrestricted free agent in July of 2014, unless re-signed or traded first.  The native of Switzerland, who is playing out a four year contract with a cap hit of $4.5 million annually, will be 32 years old when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Hiller has consistently been over .900 in save percentage while starting for Anaheim.  He has hovered near 30 wins per season with a GAA of roughly 2.50 per game each year.

Free Agent Outlook

This will be a key season for Hiller, in proving to Anaheim (or any other NHL team for that matter) that he is a bona fide number one netminder worthy of an extended contract.  With Viktor Fasth in the wings, as well as some good young talent in the AHL and ECHL system, Hiller will need to crank up that save percentage while lowering his GAA, and help move the Ducks through the playoffs, in order to see a big payday for the foreseeable future.
