Panthers Snap Shots: Thomas, Barkov

Tim Thomas got his first win as the starting goalie for the Florida Panthers, shortly after inking a one-year deal with them, and not very long after going through a professional tryout with the team.  Wearing number 34 in Florida's crease, the 39 year old backstop blocked 25 of 27 shots he faced as the Panthers downed the Dallas Stars 4-2.

The Panthers' first round draft pick, Aleksander Barkov also got his first NHL goal midway through the third period to tie the game at 2.  Barkov, the second overall selection in the 2013 NHL entry draft, became the youngest scorer in the NHL since 1942, when Jackie Schmidt did it at just a few weeks younger than Barkov did, for the Boston Bruins. Barkov notched his first goal at 18 years, 31 days old.
