NHL Snap Shots: Cooke, Wild, Stepan, Rangers

Matt Cooke, the longtime Pittsburgh Penguin, was picked up by the Minnesota Wild in the off-season.  NHL.com reports that Cooke will fill the vacancy left on the penalty kill that was created when Cal Clutterbuck was traded to the New York Islanders for Nino Niederreiter.

The New York Post reports that Derek Stepan, the young center for the New York Rangers, is looking for a contract with terms of roughly two years and $7 million, or $3.5 million per season.  The Rangers are believed to be offering closer to $6 million over two seasons, with an internal cap on the contract of $6.4 million.
