Nazem Kadri Contract Update

Is Nazem Kadri looking for a deal like the New York Islanders' John Tavares (6 years, $5.5 million per year)?  The Sporting News reports that is the case, per Bob McKenzie.   The Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly want to offer more of a bridge deal, something like P.K. Subban got with the Canadiens, for two years.  The Leafs have about $5 million in cap space remaining for 2013-14.   A deal would need to be agreed to within the week, in order for Kadri to begin training camp with Toronto.

Kadri is coming off a stellar first "full" season, although it was lockout shortened.  He notched 44 points in 48 regular season games, and contributed four more points in seven regular season games.  The former seventh overall draft pick in 2009 is coming off a contract that carried a $1.75 million cap hit for the Maple Leafs.
