Florida Panthers Tryouts: Brad Boyes and Tim Thomas

The Florida Panthers will have two veteran players in camp for tryouts.  On Frozen Pond writes that veteran forward Brad Boyes will be in training camp with Florida.  The former first round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs has notched 407 points in 606 regular season NHL contests.  He suited up most recently for the New York Islanders, playing in a full 48 regular season games with a very respectable 35 points.  Boyes has proven that he can be an offensive asset, and the Panthers will certainly need as many as they can get, with the loss of Stephen Weiss and his goal-scoring talent to free agency and the Detroit Red Wings.

On the defensive side of the puck, Florida has offered a tryout to two-time Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Tim Thomas.  The 39-year-old netminder last took to NHL ice with the Boston Bruins during the 2011-12 playoffs, after which he went on an extended hiatus from the game.
