NHL Snap Shots: Brodie and Flames, Gomez and Panthers

T.J. Brodie has signed a two-year extension with the Calgary Flames according to cbssports.com.  The defenseman was taken in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL draft by the Flames.  He has seen ice time in three NHL seasons since his selection by the Flames, picking up 28 points in 104 regular season contests.

Scott Gomez has signed a one-year deal with the Florida Panthers, as reported by NHL.com. The centerman from Alaska last played with the San Jose Sharks on a one-year deal.  His contract with the Panthers is reported to be worth $900,000.  He picked up 15 points in 39 regulars season games and two more points in nine playoff games for San Jose last season.  Over his NHL career, since being taken by the New Jersey Devils in the 1998 draft and winning the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1999-00, he has notched 701 points in 941 regular season games and 101 points in 149 playoff games, while also winning two Stanley Cups with New Jersey.
