Recent NHL Free Agent Signings: Leddy, Benn, Leopold, Dupuis

Nick Leddy was re-signed by the Chicago Blackhawks, as reported by Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.  The 22-year-old defenseman notched 18 points for the Blackhawks in the past regular season, to go along with 2 assists during the playoff run to the Stanley Cup Championship.  Leddy was set to become a restricted free agent after completing a three-year, $2.7 million contract according to capgeek.com.  Some other recent signings include:

  • The Dallas Stars have re-signed defenseman Jordie Benn to a three-year deal per Mike Heika of the  Dallas News.  The 25-year-old, brother of Stars' forward Jamie Benn, played for both the Texas Stars of the AHL, as well as the Dallas Stars last season.  In 43 games with Texas, he picked up 21 points including seven goals.  While with Dallas he notched six points in 26 appearances.  
  • Jordan Leopold was re-signed by the St. Louis Blues to a two-year deal according to the St. Louis Game Time blog.  The 32-year-old defenseman was set to become an unrestricted free agent.  In 625  regular season games, the 2002 Hobey Baker award winner from Minnesota has tallied 204 points.  
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed pending free agent Pascal Dupuis according to the Associated Press.  The 34-year-old forward who notched an impressive 38 points in 48 regular season games this past campaign,  signed a four-year, $15 million extension.
