NHL Snap Shots: Sacco with Sabres, Top Free Agents, Beukeboom with Rangers?

The Buffalo Sabres have hired Joe Sacco as an assistant coach on head coach Ron Rolston's staff, according to the Denver Post.  The 44-year-old Sacco had been head coach of the Colorado Avalanche for the past four seasons.

Larry Lage of the AP reports at the Miami Herald on ten free agents to watch this week.  Topping the list is Danny Briere  who had a compliance buyout recently from the Philadelphia Flyers.  The 35-year-old forward has put up 659 career regular season NHL points in 847 contests.

Brock Beukeboom, son of former New York Ranger Jeff Beukeboom, is with the blueshirts this week as part of a tryout during the team's Prospect Development Camp, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.  The 21-year-old defenseman most recently played in the OHL with the Guelph Storm, picking up 14 points in 51 contests.
