David Perron Traded to Edmonton Oilers

According to the NHL network, the Edmonton Oilers have acquired David Perron from the St. Louis Blues in return for the rights to Magnus Paajarvi and a second round draft pick in 2014.  David Perron has played the past six seasons with the Blues, since being selected in the first round of the 2007 NHL draft.  In that time span, he's scored 84 goals and assisted on 114 more, while seeing ice time in 340 regular season games. The 25 year-old forward is signed through the 2015-26 season, at a cap hit of $3,812,500.

The 22 year-old Paajarvi was the tenth overall pick in the 2009 NHL draft.  The young winger from Sweden has played in 163 regular season games with the Edmonton Oilers since first appearing on NHL ice during the 2010-11 season.  He has scored 26 goals while assisting on 32 more.  Paajarvi is coming off his entry-level contract where he was a $1.525 million cap hit for the Oilers.  He is a restricted free agent.
