Wild and Rangers Trade Defenseman for Forward and a Pick

The Minnesota Wild have traded the rights to defenseman Justin Falk to the New York Rangers in exchange for the rights to forward Benn Ferriero and a sixth round pick in the 2014 NHL draft according to nhl.com.

Falk is a 24-year-old blueliner who will become a restricted free agent on July 5.  He played in 36 games for the Wild this past regular season, and picked up three assists.

Ferriero, a 26-year-old forward who played briefly for the Rangers this past season, has also spent time in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks.  He was also working on a one-year deal and will be a restricted free agent.
