NHL Snapshots: Kane Surgery, Horton Injured, Cup Rating High, Coyotes on Hiatus?

  • Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports that Evander Kane underwent surgery on his left foot to repair a nerve issue.  Kane had a strong season with the Winnipeg Jets, while not at full health, garnering 33 points in 48 games.
  • Boston Bruins' forward Nathan Horton is reportedly day-to-day with an injury suffered in the first overtime of the marathon game one of the Stanley Cup finals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
  • Apparently, an original six team matchup for the Stanley Cup is good for television ratings.  Last night's first game of the championship was the most watched first game since 1997.
  • According to Fox Sports, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman did not deny that the Phoenix Coyotes franchise could go on hiatus, among a myriad of options, if the City of Glendale and the ownership group of the Coyotes can't come to an agreement.
