NHL Snap Shots: Richards, Alfredsson, Weber and Schneider


  • The Columbus Blue Jackets have extended their head coach, Todd Richards, through the 2014-15 NHL season, according to ESPN.  The Columbus coach, and former coach of the Minnesota Wild, increased his points percentage from .463 to .573 in the two years that he has been at the helm of the Blue Jackets.  
  • Daniel Alfredsson will be back with the Ottawa Senators for the 2013-14 NHL season, as reported by foxsports.com.  Number 11 finished up a four year contracts this past season, at a cap hit of $4.875 million according to capgeek.com.  
  • The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Mike Weber to a three-year deal worth a reported $5 million according to the Buffalo News.   The 25 year old Weber's contract will be at a cap hit of $1.67 million over the next three seasons.  
  • As reported by Adam Gretz on cbssports.com, the Vancouver Canucks may be looking to trade goaltender Cory Schneider.  While the expectation was that they would try to trade Roberto Luongo, the Canucks just may have a better chance at making a deal involving the netminder signed through the  2014-15 season at a cap hit of $4 million per season.
