New Jersey Devils Acquire Goalie Cory Schneider in Trade with Vancouver Canucks

New Jersey Devils acquire Cory Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks in return for the ninth overall pick in this year's draft.  It was long rumored that either Roberto Luongo or Cory Schneider would be traded by the Canucks, as both are considered to be number one goaltenders.

The 27 year-old Schneider has a .927 save percentage and 2.20 goals-against-average in five regular seasons and 98 games with the Vancouver Canucks.  He will be the heir apparent to future Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Schneider is under contract through the 2014-15 season at an annual cap hit of $4 million according to capgeek.com.
