Evgeni Malkin Extended by Pittsburgh Penguins

NHL.com has reported that the Pittsburgh Penguins have extended Evgeni Malkin for the maximum duration of eight years under the new collective bargaining agreement. The deal is worth a reported $76 million over the life of the contract.

The Russian forward, and one of the best hockey players in the world, led the league in points last season, and fought through injuries this season to average over a point per game.

The Penguins now have both Malkin and uber-star Sidney Crosby locked up for the foreseeable future with several more unrestricted free agents left to be addressed.
