Trade Rumors and Promotion Speculation

Are the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers talking about a deal involving Lubomir Visnovsky? At least one report indicates that this is the case.

How about some big offensive stars in the rumor mill? Two really big names that have come up recently are Daniel Briere of the Philadelphia Flyers and Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks. Although there has been talk about these key organizational assets moving, in neither situation does it really make sense. Briere has a full no-trade clause. And Perry, who is a UFA after this season is playing very well and the Ducks are winning. Wouldn't expect to see either of these players moved.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been struggling in the win column of late. They have been competitive, but have not been scoring more goals than their competitors. Do they need help on defense? It could be that they bring up one of their strong defensemen from their AHL affiliate.
