Tampa Bay Lightning Part Ways With Coach Guy Boucher

Guy Boucher has been released from his head coaching commitment according to a statement released by the Tampa Bay Lightning as reported by Damian Cristodero at tampabay.com.

The 41 year-old native of Quebec had been at the helm of the Lightning ship for the past three NHL seasons, making a mark of 97 wins and 78 losses with 20 overtime losses.  It may seem odd to see a head coach with a .549 winning percentage let go, but Tampa Bay has been perceived as underachievers this season.

There was wide speculation that the Lightning would part ways with Boucher, and after a loss to the Ottawa Senators which started off with a 4-0 first period deficit, GM Steve Yzerman was almost forced to make a change.

The team reports that head coaching duties will be split between assistants Martin Raymond and Dan Lacroix for tonight's contest with the Winnipeg Jets.
