Minnesota Wild Won't Trade Stars

The Minnesota Wild will not be making headlines with a blockbuster trade at this year's April 3 trade deadline.  General Manager Chuck Fletcher was quoted at startribune.com saying as much:
Will Niklas Backstrom or Matt Cullen be traded? “Oh God, no,” said General Manager Chuck Fletcher. “Backy’s been outstanding. He’s our No. 1 goalie. Cullen’s been a big part of our team. That’s the type of guy every team in the league wants to add for a playoff run.”
If Fletcher will not trade Backstrom or Cullen, why would he trade any of his other "stars"?  He wouldn't.

Backstrom, the 35 year-old netminder who will become a free agent after this season, has been strong in net for Minnesota.  With the Wild in first place in the Northwest division, and looking to make a playoff run to the Cup, parting with Backstrom just isn't an option.

Cullen, the 36 year-old defenseman, who will also be an unrestricted free agent, has already stated that he wants to remain with the Wild.  He's provided an offensive spark on the blueline for Minnesota, notching 4 goals and assisting on 16 more, in 29 contests this season.
