Maple Leafs and Capitals Make Minor Trade

In a transaction reported by ESPN.com, the Washington Capitals have received forward Nicolas Deschamps from the Toronto Maple Leafs for defenseman Kevin Marshall.

Deschamps was selected in the second round of the 2008 NHL draft by the Anaheim Ducks.  He was acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in a trade for Luca Caputi in 2012.  Setting up his teammates is his strength as he has notched more than 25 assists in his two full AHL seasons.  This year with the Marlies, Deschamps had 7 goals and 9 assists prior to the trade.

Kevin Marshall was a second round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2007 NHL draft.  He was traded to the Capitals for Matt Ford in 2012, prior to this transaction.  Marshall has seen ten games of NHL action.  He projects as a stay at home defenseman with a physical edge according to Hockey's Future.
