NHL News Snap Shots: Flames, Oilers, Blue Jackets

Although the Calgary Flames haven't been stellar in the goaltending department thus far this season, head coach Bob Hartley has full confidence in Miikka Kiprusoff. In fact, Kiprusoff was one of the reasons that Hartley came to Calgary according to a recent article by Kristen Odland in the Calgary Herald

According to Jim Matheson in the Edmonton Journal, Devan Dubnyk has proven himself to be a legitimate number one goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers, in light of his recent performance against the San Jose Sharks. Although the Sharks got the win, Dubnyk played very well in net against one of the best offensive squads in the NHL. The Oilers' first round pick in the 2004 NHL Draft has played in 108 games over the past three seasons, posting a 2.83 GAA and .911 save percentage.

According to Shawn Mitchell in The Columbus Dispatch it is likely that James Wisniewski suffered a concussion after slamming backwards into the boards during the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. The 28 year old defenseman has notched 5 points in 9 games so far this season.
