What If Luongo Stays With Vancouver?

A trade of Roberto Luongo out of Vancouver seemed to be a foregone conclusion. The torch seemed to have been passed to Cory Schneider last season. But after many months of speculation, Luong remains on the Canucks. So what if Luongo isn't traded by the Canucks after all?

With Luongo making $6.7 million for the next several seasons, and a cap hit of $5.3 million through the 2021-22 season according to capgeek.com, Luongo would need to be the starter in net once again. Or at a minimum, be willing to split duties with Schneider to make this feasible from a Canucks perspective.

Is it a probable scenario? Maybe not. But we certainly have seen teams split goalie duties in the past, so don't rule it out.
