Veterans Shine in Openers

It was a good opening day for established veterans in the NHL. Longtime all-star veterans Jaromir Jagr and Teemu Selane each had four points in their season debut, while fellow vets Martin St. Louis and Alex Kovalev each notched three points.

The Stars captain had some kind words for Jagr according to Yahoo! News:
"Jump on 68's coattails tonight," Stars captain Brenden Morrow said. "He really settled some things down for us tonight on the power play when we were kind of struggling to get some good looks. A heck of a player."

Alex Kovalev showed his leadership not only on the ice, but off the ice as well with his comments to the Panthers standout rookie, as quoted here in the Miami Herald:

“[Huberdeau] showed what he’s done in junior, he continued doing the game thing here,” Kovalev said. “I said to him this morning, ‘The game is the same. Maybe faster paced, bigger guys, but the same game.’”
