NHL News and Rumors

Dan Rosen reports on NHL.com that Cory Schneider will likely get his chance to start in net for Vancouver this season, with Roberto Luongo likely on his way to another NHL team. Schneider was a first round draft pick in 2004 with the Canucks. Schneider does have some good experience in net for the Canucks, winning the William M. Jennings Trophy for the 2010-11 NHL season.

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com has written that Sean O'Donnell, who played in the NHL for 17 seasons has decided to hang up his skates.  O'Donnell is currently 83rd on the all-time NHL games played list with 1,224 games under his belt.

Jarome Iginla expects to play in the Flames NHL season opener against the Sharks, according to the AP and ESPN.com.  Iginla has not missed a regular season game for five straight seasons.
