Alex Galchenyuk Decision by Montreal Canadiens Coming Soon

Update: THN is reporting that the Canadiens have decided not to send Galchenyuk back to his Junior team as of 12:50 pm.

Alex Galchenyuk is one of the ten players who were subject to the "5-game rule" in this lockout shortened season. Apron Basu of NHL.com reports that the Montreal Canadiens will face a tough choice in whether or not to send Galchenyuk back to his Junior team or have his first year kick in on his NHL contract. The 18 year old center has 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 4 NHL games this season.
According to an article on cjad.com, Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin was big on Galchenyuk from day one, not least in part due to his size:
“He’s a big centre and they don’t come by. When they do you have to draft them. You can’t really trade for one because they’re not available. So down the middle has to be a strength, and he fits the bill.”
